Having worked together since 2012, David and Andrew have deep trading and operational experience supporting institutional, HNWI’s and retail investors.

Both have experience managing hedge funds, traditional portfolios and alternative investments, and been investing in digital assets since 2016.

Directors and Key Individuals

The founders are recognised by the FSCA as FAIS “Fit & Proper” Key Individuals and Representatives (RE1, RE3, RE5) with all the necessary requirements expected of a regulated financial service provider, working closely with SARS, the SARB and Authorised Dealers. Financial services licences include Cat 1 & 11, CASP and FX

Two new directors joined CURRENCY HUB in 2023: 

Warren Deats serves as the CFO and Head of Risk, focused on developing and supporting the trading activities. Warren has a long career in markets trading and risk management having worked for Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs and Barclays in Africa, Asia and Europe. His experience as a Managing Director overseeing Cash Equity and Cross Product trading is vital to ensure we manage our risks appropriately. 

Ashton Hayes serves as the COO with a focus on ongoing projects and also supporting the trading activities. Ashton has worked alongside CURRENCY HUB since its inception as a trader. With his experience in project management and detailed knowledge of our infrastructure he’s involved in the development of our UX, trading and operational systems.

CURRENCY HUB is powered by BLACK ONYX FUND HUB, an authorised financial services provider (FSP 50850) and FX intermediary (6176), regulated and authorised by the FSCA to provide advisory, discretionary and intermediary services in relation to traditional, alternative and digital assets (CASP). We are a member of CAASA (The Crypto Asset Association of South Africa).
